"RoboRAVE International is the best robotics competition because it is affordable and (as a team leader) so easy to organize and coordinate… The preparation for the competition is easy to follow and engaging and the day of the event is an absolute blast for the kids.”
--Melanie Madrid, YWCA Youth Director, Tech Girls

Why RoboRAVE International?

Robots are changing the fields of manufacturing, health care, national defense, agriculture and transportation. RoboRAVE International gives students entry into this global industry and other STEM careers. That’s why our motto is, "Today's Play, Tomorrow's Pay."

This is a family event. Many parents say it gives them a chance to work alongside their kids and brings them closer. Teachers report that teamwork helps students grow socially.  And local companies can endorse teams for free; those teams, in turn, display their logos on the robots.

Education in S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Robotics supports science, math and technology standards. Designing, programming, and using a robot, students must explore the function of gears, friction, levers, and a variety of different sensors.  They learn to balance physical quantities of speed, weight, mass, distance, time, and center of gravity to make their machines work correctly. Through programming, students use variables, sequential reasoning, input-output functions, and spatial relationships. Working with motors and electronics, students see physics in action, and understand how to make a robot complete a variety of tasks. They make and test predictions, collect and analyze data, look for patterns, and finally, reflect on and communicate their final results.

According to Carnegie Mellon's Robotics Academy, "Robotics is the leading integrator of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) in education today."

Simply put, robotics is STEM on a plate!

"In robotics… no two students take the same path and no two final products are exactly the same.  A dialog begins and students begin asking questions and watching other students’ measure of success…The process involves every student finding his own individual path to success.”

-Mike Gordon, Math-Robotics teacher at Piedra Vista High School in Farmington and RoboRAVE International coach.

How can I support a team? A class?  A community?

Support a Team

Want to help a team win at RoboRAVE International? You can purchase needed equipment. A new team will be best served with a Robot Competition Pack. Returning teams may need a new brick (the robot’s “brain”) for their robot, practice tracks, or programming support. Link to description of programming support on Resources page Talk to the coach to see how you can best support the team.

Support a Class

Do you want to get a whole class of students excited about science and math? For as little as $5,000 you can provide reusable robotics equipment for 10 teams (up to 40 students). You can purchase through our store now or call our office for more information.  The packs are a versatile teaching tool that can be used for many different educational purposes.

How do I get involved?

Player - Want to start a team? Find one to three other students who want to work with robots.  Find an adult who’s willing to help you.  Have the adult register as a coach.

Coach - NO experience required Register to begin the process. Upon payment for your first robot, you’ll get full access to all our resources.

Need a robot? Robot Competition Packs are available at our store.

volunteerfacehp.jpgVolunteer  – Want to get close to the action? Watch motivated students engage with technology?  Then volunteer at RoboRAVE International.

You don’t have to know anything about robots to be a track monitor, score runner, ticket taker, Adventure Challenge assistant, or photographer.  If you’re comfortable with robotics and programming, then volunteer to work with our Triage center during the event. And we ALWAYS need help setting up the day before.
